How Long o Lord

How long, o Lord, will you allow injustice to reign on the earth?

When will the oppression of those you love cease?

Why do the wicked thrive while the righteous die?

You came to set free those who were stuck in bondage, but both the oppressed and the oppressors are trapped in a system of hopelessness.

Do my cries fall upon deaf ears?

Are these tears shed in vain?

Does the blood that soaks the earth mean nothing to you?

Both your friends and enemies seek to destroy what is good, true, and beautiful, so how long shall we wait for you to protect those things?

The voiceless continue to have no voice.

The oppressed continue to be oppressed.

The oppressors continue to be consumed by hate and ignorance.

Injustice reigns upon the earth, and darkness seeps into every facet of our reality.

We fervently wait for your justice to be known in the land.

This waiting, though, is wearisome.

Death comes for us all.

It feels as though you have turned your face from your people, as we ceaselessly suffer in the midst of a lost and forlorn world.

I will continue to wait.

I will lament what is being done in your name and what is not.

I will remain steadfast and tirelessly work for Good.

Your Kingdom will come, and your Will most certainly will be done on the earth.

Amen.
